Breakfast. A staff member from the company will meet you at the hotel to take you on a tour around the historic center of the city. The first stop will be at Plaza de Bolivar to walk along the streets and take a close look of the most important buildings of the city, such as the National Capitol, which is the center of the countrys legislative life; Casa de los Comuneros; Casa de Nariño, which is the Presidential house; and the Santa Clara Church Museum. The tour includes a visit to the Gold Museum, which exhibits about 34,000 pieces of metalwork from various Hispanic cultures and if time permits, a tour will be made to the Casa de la Moneda Museum. The tour continues to the iconic symbol of Bogota, the Monserrate Hill rising up to 3,152 above sea level, to visit the sanctuary where you will find the statue of the Lord of Miracles. From there it is possible to enjoy the best view of Bogota.
Note: Gold museum and Quinta de Bolivar are closed on Mondays, instead we visit Museo de Botero and Museo Casa de la Moneda. The Casa de la Moneda Museum is closed on Tuesdays. A staff member from the company will meet you at the hotel, either in the morning or the afternoon, to take you on a tour through La Sabana de Bogota to the town of Zipaquira, which name means city of our Father in the language of the Chibcha. Back in pre-Columbian times, salt around the area was the most important commodity and the salt cakes were the only currency for trading. Over time, technology improved and the muiscas began to extract larger amounts of salt. As a result, an underground salt deposit was formed and it is where the Salt Cathedral was built, 180 meters below the surface. Inside, there is a chapel, 'capilla de los mineros' built as a tribute to the Virgin 'Our Lady of the Rosary of Guasa' (Guasa means mine in Chibcha). At the end, return to Bogotá. At the agreed time, you will be taken to the "La Divisa de Don Juan" farm. Upon arrival, you will feel at home as the owners will welcome you and invite you to wear the traditional attire of local coffee farmers (poncho, hat, and basket) and become an expert coffee picker. During this experience, you will learn about the interactive coffee process, starting from its origin (the seed), and enjoy a sensory experience by tasting a delicious cup of coffee. You will also enjoy a friendly, family-oriented environment surrounded by the local flora and fauna.
